How to does a matchstick lit up with a magnifying glass .

How to does a matchstick lit up with a magnifying glass .

A magnifying glass can be used to focus light into one direction.
This allows us to use the magnifying glass to light up a matchstick inside of using the usual method.

However , it is necessary to hold the magnifier at the distance of it's focal length. Using trial & error will help to achieve the best result.

The head of the match stick contains either phosphorus or phosphorus sesquisulfide , once light is directly focused on it, the molecues inside will start to vibrate. Vibrations means that the tip of the matchstick will get a lot of movement & it will ignite.

Physics Graded Assignment [Number 39]

1) How many images would you get for an object that is placed between two mirrors placed at an angle less than 90(degrees)?
When an object is placed between two mirrors that are placed at an angle which is lesser than 90degrees, there would be a minimum of 3 images formed. This is because light would reflect and bounce between the mirrors before it reaches your eye. Thus, the smaller the angle, the more images you see.

2) What happens to the images of this angle is it is bigger than 90(degrees)?
This is the exact opposite of having angles smaller than 90degrees. This means that the bigger the angle, the lesser images you see

3) How do mirrors produce funny images?
Different shapes of mirrors have different properties.
Convex = Convex mirrors are also curved mirrors, but the silvered surface bulges outward instead of inward.
Concave = Concave are spherical mirror.
When a person stands in front of a convex mirror, he/she would look thinner & slimmer .For a concave mirror, it would be the exact opposite.

Networking Project for Science Chemistry [Register Number 39]

1) Microwaved food is believed to contain microwaves. How safe is microwaved food?
Mircowaved food doesn't contain mircorwaves. Mircowaves is used for heating up the food. The food doesn't literally absorb the mircowaves. Mircowaved foods aren’t that safe. There are many factors that affect this. However, if you consume them once a while, it would be all right and won't harm you .Different studies have shown possible links between microwave food and lowered electrochemical activity in the brain. The radiation might affect the nerves system; these would happen only if they are always exposed to the microwaves. This would result in headaches, backaches, disorientation, and altered brain wave patterns.
Another factor is the type of container to hold the food while microwaving them. Plastic would melt over a substantial amount of time. The toxins would be deadly.
Chemical changes in the food would also be deadly. In some studies, excessive consumption of micro waved food has led to decreased haemoglobin in the blood (the molecule necessary for transporting oxygen to cells), decreased beneficial HDL cholesterol, and decreased numbers of disease-fighting white blood cells. Long term consumption may lead to anaemia, lowered immune responses, and a greater risk of heart disease.

(2) Reports have linked charred food to cancer. How safe is BBQ food?
Only grilling over a high heat is unsafe. Researchers have tracked more than 62,000 people for nine years. They found those who preferred very well done steak were nearly 60 percent more likely to develop pancreatic cancer. Experts say frying or grilling meat at high temperatures generates cancer-causing chemicals.

E-Learning Assignment Part 3 (REG NO. 31-39)

1)Male seahorses get pregnant! Is this true? How?
The male seahorses don't really get pregnant as his sexual organs aren't those of a female. Instead, the female seahorse deposits her eggs into an opening in the front of the male's body, and he keeps them in his belly until they hatch, at which time they "squirt" out of him. So yes, in a sense the male seahorse gets pregnant

2)Sound travels 15 times faster through steel than through the air. Why?
Sound travels through steel faster air because of the particles inside the steel. Also , being a metal , there is a free electron inside the solid. So when sound passes through both of these, sound will travel faster through steel because they particles will vibrate faster. Transferring energy faster than through air.

3)Infants blink only once or twice a minute while adults average around 10. Why do we blink so many times? What is the purpose of blinking?!
We blink because it helps to keep our eyes moisturized and prevent any dust particles from entering our eyes.Blinking provide protection for eyes. Imagine if we can't blink . Our eyes will hurt and get disturbance from dust particles.

4)French kissing involves all 34 muscles in the face. Really? Which 34 muscles on the face? Show me a diagram and
Yes , French kissing involves. 34 facial muscles & 112 postura. It is the same amount of muscles needed to blow a kiss.

E-Learning Assignment Part 2 (REG NO. 31-39)

1. Explain what is wrong with the design.
From the picture , i can see that the water dam is too close to the village . This is very bad because if it were to collapse,
the water collected from the dam would travel towards the village. This means that village would be destroyed. The dam has a high
tendency to collapse due to the high amount of water it holds. It should contain lesser water and have a bigger and strong column.

2. Why the crack appeared at the location and not anywhere above?
The cracks appear at the bottom due to the pressure . It has to support the water it contains. Over a long period of time , it
would no longer be able to bear the pressure and give way. Thus , cracks form .

3. Offer a better design with explanations.

The pictures show almost the same design . However , the base of the dam is bigger, wider and stronger. The dam also contain less water.
Hopefully, the dam can hold the water and not have any cracks.

Invention of ball point pens

A Hungarian journalist named Laszlo Biro invented the first ballpoint pen in 1938. He created a pen with the ink that's exactly the same from those that are from in newspaper, only thicker. He placed a ball inside the pen , as the ball moved along the paper , it get ink and transfers the ink onto the paper. However , the it leaked easily. However , through advances in technology , the ball pen is no longer what it is in 1938. Nowadays, pens are easily purchase and doesn't leak easily.
