Invention of air conditioners

The invention that I had always been interested in is the Air Conditioning. An air conditioner is a home appliance which is designed to dehumidify and to cool an area. It was first invented by Willis Haviland Carrier since the 1900s. The air conditioner is used by people everyday especially when the weather is always humid like in Singapore.

The concept was applied back in Ancient Rome, where water supply was circulated in the walls of houses to cool them during the warm seasons.

Air conditioners are usually positioned high near the ceiling of the room. The air in front of the air conditioner will get more dense and cooler. The more dense air sinks while the less dense air rises. This cycle is repeated until the whole room is cooled.

I feel that this invention is wonderful because without it, many of us would have to put up with the heat in Singapore.
